Active Directory Prep failed
Hi All, I am having the following error when i try to prep the AD with the /pl switch: Welcome to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 Unattended Setup Preparing Exchange Setup No server roles will be installed Performing Microsoft Exchange Server Prerequisite Check Organization Checks ......................... FAILED This computer does not belong to a valid Active Directory site. Check the s ite and subnet definitions. The Exchange Server Setup operation did not complete. For more information, visi t http://support.microsoft.com and enter the Error ID. Exchange Server setup encountered an error. Background: We have Exchange 2003 running on Windows 2003 server. We have just setup a new subnet for the new exchange 2007 servers which will be running on Windows Server 2008 standard without hyperV +SP2 64 bit OS. Our AD servers are on different subnet. Steps taken: I copied the exchange 2007 sp2 setup files to one of the new windows 2008 box, ran the command ServerManagerCmd -i RSAT-ADDS as documented on Technet. From this box I can telnet to AD server on the required AD ports. From the error after running the setup /pl switch, I created a subnet in AD sites and services and associated it with the AD servers site. After this and running the command again, I still get the error message. Is there something that I am missing? Thanks, IsaacIsaac2k2

Did you define this new subnet in Active Directory? Make sure the exchange subnet is part of the Active Directory. Here is one of my old articles. Look at the 4th screenshot. http://portal.sivarajan.com/2007/01/my-new-articles_12.html Santhosh Sivarajan | MCTS, MCSE (W2K3/W2K/NT4), MCSA (W2K3/W2K/MSG), CCNA, Network+ Houston, TX http://blogs.sivarajan.com/ http://publications.sivarajan.com/ This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

Yes has I had said, I did create a new subnet for the exchange servers and associated with the site where the AD servers are.Isaac2k2

Ok, i fixed the problem. While creating the subnet, I typed in 192.168.1.0/27 instead of using the full IP address of the server.Isaac2k2
