Activating MS Office 2013 Prof. Plus evaluation

Hi

I'm doing an evaluation of this version of Office, which is a big upgrade from the 2003 version that I'd been using. I've downloaded the 2013 32-bit version onto my laptop, no problem. But when I try to open any of my files in Word and Excel, it tells me that Word and Excel need to be activated.

I've tried using my microsoft account email and password to activate and it won't accept. I wasn't given a product key to try, so that's not an option.

I've tried other email addresses and it only accepts the email address of my microsoft account.

I've reset the password on that account.

Still I get an error box saying that my email address is not associated with that account. I'd appreciate any assistance here ... it's giving me till May 25 to activate and I don't know what'll happen then.

Thank you

If you are evaluating the TechNet evaluation product, that is Office2013ProfessionalPlus. This comes with a product key already embedded, and it only needs an internet connection, no account is required.

If you are evaluating Office365ProPlus (which looks like Office2013ProfessionalPlus but it's a little different under the hood), you will need a Microsoft account for that.

Open Word. Then go to File -> Account. What does it say there?

Hi Don

thanks ... I don't see 365 anywhere in the account page. It says 'Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013'

I just went through the registration process, for the TechNet evaluation download, for Office2013ProfessionalPlus 32bit.

After entering/confirming all my details, a product key was displayed, and the download began.

(in the past, no product key entry was required. seems like that has been changed by MSFT)

You could try this key I was just offered by the download page (I don't need it)
