Accessing external emails
We have been using exchange SBS 2003 for sometime and have been able to send to, and receive email from, our externally hosted email server without any problems. Yesterday I installed the latest service pack for exchange and found that we can still receive emails from our pop3 acounts however now the replys and new messages are not sent. I noticed the smtp connector is constantly retrying to send the messages. I then found by changing thereply email address in the smtp connector for each user I was able to send the messages however Iam then unable to receive any messages. I obviously am overlooking something simple as before the upgrade it had run faultlessly for over 18 months. Our external hosting server domain uses the .com suffix and the local small business server uses the .local sufix. So if I leave the email address as ianr@server.local then I can receive internal and external emails and can send internal emails. If I change it to ianr@server.com I can then send external emails but not receive external emails.
