Access 2010 stops working after installing Visio 2013

Thanks in advance for any tip!

This PC has Office 2010 (Professional), and everything works well, yet after Visio 2013 is installed, every time Access 2010 is launched the Office reconfiguration dialog box is launched.

After a couple of minutes, Access is finally launched, yet when opening a file (any file), it stops responding. If I tried to launch it again, the reconfiguration runs again. Visio 2013 runs fine.

I know that Visio and Access share certain resources, and this is the most probable culprit (as this Knowledge Base suggests). Yet I have not found yet the way to make both applications work.

Is there any workaround to have both applications run smoothly?

Hi,

As the KB which you provide said, we could use the workaround:

To workaround this problem, load the Microsoft Office Visio Drawing Control before establishing connection using Access Database Engine 2010 OLE DB provider.

If you do not want to use this, and we can install and use more than one version of Microsoft Office on a single computer. For example, you can install and use both Microsoft Office 2013 and Microsoft Office 2010 on the same computer. However, we do not recommend this. Please try the following mothod:

To avoid the issues discussed in this article, one or more of the Office products can be deployed in a virtualized environment by using one of the following solutions.
