Accented characters in email address
Hi all,From other threadsI know that there are certain characters that cannot be used in email addresses (slash, colons etc), but what about accented characters such as which occur in foreign names such French, German etc.We have access to the character map, the different language keyboard configurations etc. and the specific characters can be be typed into most fields. However, if I try to enter them intothe actual email address field within the AD, it reports "The email address is not valid. Correct it and then try again". We are using Server 2003 SP2, with Exchange 2003 SP1. The default language is English. I've looked through the variousKB articles, but haven't found one that refers to this.Anybody have any suggestions as to what I could try next? I appreciate any assistance.Mole

Hi,Pretty sure that this is not possible - you need to look into RFC's explaining how email address can look. This is one such RFC: http://community.roxen.com/developers/idocs/rfc/rfc5336.htmlLeif

Thanks, I rather suspected that was the case. We have taken over providing the mail for a french site - they were previously getting mail through a Lotus server. I'm not sure if they were using the accented characters through that.I appreciate the information.Mole
