About LOg ISSUE
Today I found that there is not enough space in the partition for database of exchange server 2007. I found that there is a lot of log which occupies too much. Tonight I plan to move the database to another LUN, which is full of enough space. Can I delete the log?

Hi, If you are talking about transaction logs, then take the full backup it will purge all the logs. And you can't delete them as such Ripu Daman Mina | MCSE 2003 & MCSA Messaging

HI, Yeah, agreed with Ripu. You can take a full back up and check whether logs deleted or not. If it doesn’t help you can move the database. Move Logs Move-StorageGroupPath -identity SERVER\Name of the StorageGroup -LogFolderPath X:\PathToLogFiles -SystemFolderPath X:\SystemFolderPath Move Database Move-DatabasePath Server\StorageGroup\MailboxStore -EDBFilePath X:\PathToDatabase Regards Chinthaka Shameera | MCITP: EA | MCSE: M | http://howtoexchange.wordpress.com/

Ripu, We have one week log files in the folder. Normally we use Symantec backup exec to backup the log files and database. But I never see the system purges all the logs. BTW, how many days log does the system record by default?

Hello, Backup Exec never purges the logs, it marks the Logs for deletion. The purging is done by the Daily Maintenance process carried by Exchange Server. So please run windows server backup and let it to purge logs. If you haven’t enabled circular logging, Logs won’t be purged until you ran a full backup. If you need to get enough space to get the db mounted, log files are very compressible. You don't want to set the logs directory to be compressed, but you can get space back temporarily by compressing the existing log files without introducing a permanent performance issue.

Are you backing up the Information Store object? Did you acquire the Exchange Agent for your backup software? You need to be performing an Exchange-aware backup, not a backup of the files, and the way to tell whether you are is that you'll see objects to back up like the Information Store, storage groups and databases. -- Ed Crowley MVP "There are seldom good technological solutions to behavioral problems." .
