About Clustering in MS Exchange 2007
Hi Guys, just wann know about small doubt that earlier with exchange 2003 we can setup the cluster solution with 8 nodes setup (like 6 active and 2 passive) or what ever with the clustering technology what we had in exchange 2003 now with exchange 2007 with CCR it's mentioned that worked with only Two nodes so is that mean that this CCR won;t with 8 nodes or we need to use the same SCC (Quorum model and available storage) if we wann use 8 node cluster setuup or so.....

8 nodes with SCC still has a single point of failure - shared storage. CCR has no single point of failure as storage is not shared. Adding SCR to CCR will provide site resiliency. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676571(EXCHG.80).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124521(EXCHG.80).aspx

Skip Exchange 007 and use 2010 with a DAG. With a SCC (MSCS) cluster you had the problem of having only one copy of each database. Lose the database and it doesn't matter how many nodes you have in the cluster, it's still lost. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Thanks for your reply , as its mentioned that 8-node clusters only for SCCs. (CCR is a 2-node cluster.) So if i am having a setup where i am having 8 nodes cluster setup in A-PAC region and now want to do the transition to exchange 2007 servers so which HA solution i can go for SCC, CCR or SCR.

I agree with Rich Matheisen, 2010 is a better option. more details would help.

1. You can go for any one your prefer. It's what meets your customers requirements. However, IF you want to use 2007 then I'd recommend that you got for CCR combined with a SCR target. (Depends on your infrastructre/resources etc..) Some reading for you. - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(EXCHG.80).aspx 2. If you dont have a reason to NOT use 2010 then you can use DAG's for your databases. Some more reading for you - http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd979799.aspx Sukh

Hi, Agree with Sukh. And the versions of Exchange server depend on customers' requirements.
