A matching connector cannot be found to route the external recpient - Exchange 2007
We have installed a new Exhange 2007 Server which is running alongside our exisiting 2003 server and sucsessfuly migrated one mailbox. Internal mail works fine but not external. When we look at the queues we see the following error: A matching connector cannot be found to route the external recpient We have an ISA server but are presuming we do not need to change anything as the traffic can still come in via our old server? We also use messagelabs to put a disclaimer on our outgoing mail but am not sure how to tell the new server to send all outgoing mail to one place? But again I still don't think this is the problem. When looking through guides on the internet we have noticed that perhaps we should have a SMTP connector on our old server but it does not appear to have one. It is working fine though... Many thanks in advance.

Hi, It depends how your organization is configured but you can indeed arrange that all mail is sent via the old server. This connector is most times automaticly created during the setup of Exchange 2007. All mails will then me be routed via the bridgehead server in your Exchange 2003 environment. You should check the configuration of the send connectors, you will find the on the HUB server below the organization configuration. Check how Exchange will send e-mails to the internet, will Exchange 2007 try it directly or via the Exchange 2003 Bridgehead server If send directly then change the settings in you ISA server to allow this if you want else change it so mail will be send vai the Bridgehead. Then if everything looks OK there try to manually send and e-mail via telnet to the Exchange 2003 Bridgehead server/directly via the internet, this can be done via the following: ehlo domainname.com mail from: user1@domainname.com rcpt to: outside@outside.com data this is a test mail . And check if the mail is accepted by the Bridgehead server/directly Regards, Johan visit my site: www.johanveldhuis.nl
