A few questions
A few more questions on having a new database. 1. Could i create a new db under First Storage Group and move users one at time at my own convenience (from the original db)? I would create a new db on a mapped drive to another server. 2. When would you need another Storage Group? 3. When moving users to a new db, the only issue i have found is they will lose any deleted items permanently, is there anything else i should be aware of? 4. Could the original db and my new db run side by side? And what would be the minimum size of the db when first created? Thanks in advance for your help.

The standard recommendation is to create a new storage group for each mailbox database - spreading the wealth so to speak: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/890699 Yes, they can run side by side - not sure what the initial size of an empty store is, but very small of course. Unless this is 2010, the dumpster will not move with the mailbox, but you could always use exmerge and export the dumpster and mailbox contents to a pst before moving the mailbox if you aren concerned.

Thanks again. Just to confirm, it is recommended to have this database on a mapped drive within the same domain (but on a member server)? And keep all the log files together with this db.

"Mapped Drive" can mean so much. The drive has to be seen as local to the server. NAS is supported however: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=839687 The logs and stores should not be on the same drive.

1. Could i create a new db under First Storage Group and move users one at time at my own convenience (from the original db)? I would create a new db on a mapped drive to another server. Microsoft recommends 1 db per storage group. 2. When would you need another Storage Group? You need another storage group to separate the DBs. 3. When moving users to a new db, the only issue i have found is they will lose any deleted items permanently, is there anything else i should be aware of? Make sure you do a trial run of a test account. 4. Could the original db and my new db run side by side? And what would be the minimum size of the db when first created? They can run side-by-side. I believe 75GB if you have Standard and Enterprise is different.
