AD User & Computers Show Incorrect Administrative Group
I moved several mailboxes this weekend from one administrative group to another. When I was looking through user accounts this morning, I noticed that all of them still list the old administrative group under the "Exchange Advanced" tab.How can I correct this and are there any issues that will arise from this?Exchange 2003 SP2 on Windows Server 2003Thanks.If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

Hi there,It should be under the Exchange General tab, however, have these users logged into their mailboxes this morning, you can also send a test email and then refresh ADUC and check again.Oliver

I was jsut curious why that didn't update when I moved them.I know a few of the users have logged in today. Still shows the old group. If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

Hey,Have you created a new user and assigned their mailbox directly to an AG other than First Administrative Group? It's been a long time since i've regularly played with Exchange 2003, and i've just jumped on my test lab box to look at the Exchange Advanced Tab - which does at the bottom show what you are talking about.I remember this being locked down and unchangable if you were running Exchange 2003 Native Mode, and users will have attributes mapped to the First AG even if their mailboxes are moved to Exchange Servers in a different one.Oliver

So what will happen if I decommision the server I moved them from? There aren't any other servers in that AG.I thought I saw somewhere that ADSIEdit could change the value. If its not going to cause issues, I won't bother. If everyone is thinking alike, then somebody isn't thinking.

The LegacyExchangeDN value does not change when moving mailboxes between admin groups. If that is what is being keyed on in that dialog box in ESM, then that is why its not changed. That is true when migrating from 2003 -> 2007 as well.

That is true when migrating from 2003 -> 2007 as well. Yeah that's what it's doing. If he creates a new mailbox enabled user and homes it on a Mailbox Server in another AG, he'll see it updated.
