4.4.6 bounce issues E2k3
Hi,
Hope someone out there can help me on this one - Its been causing me some real headaches!
We have an issue currently where some messages entering our organisation end up failing with an NDR stating thata message has been bouncing between servers.
The NDR is along the lines of
Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.
Subject: [Aberdeen_Freecycle] WANTED: Cash Tray (Aberdeen)
Sent: 11/06/2007 08:06
The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:
Fleming, Callum - AJLx.HQ on 11/06/2007 08:10
A configuration error in the e-mail system caused the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients. Contact your administrator.
<ABER-SMTP-002 #4.4.6>
The message above is coming from a yahoo-groups distribution list - and I also have another set of messages bouncing which come in from another distribution group (not an internal distribution list).
The users in question have nothing different in their setup to the other 600 I have in the organisation.
This issue has always been in existance as it isa newly migrated 2003 org (was 5.5, Inter org migration).
For info inbound mail flow is as follows
MessageLabs (for spam and AV scanning) ->ABER-SMTP-002 (IIS6 Relay in DMZ) ->ABER-EXCH-003(Exchange Server)
It would seem that the message is bouncing between the Exchange server and the DMZ Relay server.
The message header of a bounced message is as follows (ive changed the orginators email address to protect privacy)

Hi Paul,
I know you might have fixed this issue longs ago. But just felt that after 2,546 views this post
needs a reply that might route techs who are trying to fix this issue in the right direction.
Recently we came across the same issue. It was found that the address the mails were being sent was
an incorrect one. But you can read more on this from the article below
