2 pst need to open and merge

I am having 2007 outlook on my lappi.  I copied outlook data file from my PC to lappi and want to open into ms outlook. Default pst file is already open with lappi outlook (2007) and I want to get merged PC data file with lappi data file and duplicate entry get removed. PC outlook data file is ANSI and lappi data file is unicode. So confused now what to do?

Hello Swati,

No need to worry, you can do the same. Just follow the given instructions:

  1.        Copy the desktop data file i.e. ansi pst file into lappi (hope you already did)
  2.        Open the ms outlook (I assume, your default pst file i.e. unicode pst already open with ms outlook)
  3.        Go File > Import and Export > Import from another file or program > Personal Folder File (.pst)  >
  4.        Locate the copied pst file i.e. desktop data file (not opened in Outlook currently) > Select the option Do not import duplicate items >
  5.        Import items into the current folder > Finish

By doing these steps, your ansi pst file will be imported or merged with default data file i.e. Unicode pst file without any duplicates.

Read this blog: how to combine multiple Outlook PST files into a single file?

The blog shows how to use Import and Export feature of MS Outlook to move items from one .pst file to another. By doing this, you can move all the items from two or more .pst files into a single file.

Note: Before using any manual technique, make sure you back up your original data and files.

Thanks.

There are free tools that can help:

  1. Run Merge Storages to combine two PSTs.
  2. Run Remove Duplicate Messages to eliminate duplicates. There are also free duplicate removers for other Outlook items type.
