2 exchange servers one in each domain...?
I have a domain with an exchange 2000 and a new domain with exchange 2007. They are on the same LAN and have a two way trust between them. What I want is to link the servers so I can move a few people across and still have the users on the old server see their calendars and make appointments etc. Then in a few months migrate people in blocks in the same way (still been able to see everyone calender) When I installed Exchange 2007 it would not let me merge the two servers as it was a fresh domain and didn't detect any legacy exchange servers. I have looked into just syncing the two servers using Microsoft Identity Integration Server (MIIS) and InterOrg Replication Tool to replicate Free/Busy information. But feel this might be the wrong way to do it? I have looked over a lot of forums and someone suggested setting up 2003 in the new domain as a bridgehead server which could then speak between the exchange 2000 server and exchange 2007 server? Thanks Richard

Thanks! Thats seems an ok setup... Will this allow calender sharing also? or will the free\busy need to be synchronised as well? I assume when I was told I would need exchange 2003 MT to enable exchange 2000 to talk to 2007 this was incorrect? Thanks again Richard

Hi,It seems that the two Exchange servers are not in the same forest. The Free/Busy can be synchronized between the two Exchange servers but not for Calendar. That because Calendar sharing across two forest uses the object that we pick to add an account is from the local GAL which must be mail-enabled user.To synchronize the Free/Busy, we need to use MIIS or InterOrg Replication utility. Moreover, I would like to share the similar thread with you:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/50d38aa6-51b1-46f8-b9f0-e01892c8af28/ThanksAllen
