2007 SP1 setup fails after selecting domain controller ...
Has anyone come across a problem with BOTH upgrading to SP1 and installing a clean copy of Exchange 2007 with SP1 where the setup fails immediately after selecting a domain controller? Here is what is in the logs ... [4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Starting Microsoft Exchange 2007 Setup[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] **********************************************[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Operating System version: Microsoft Windows NT 5.2.3790 Service Pack 2.[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Setup version: 8.1.240.6.[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Logged on user: XXX\exadmin.[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Command Line Parameter Name='mode', Value='Install'.[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Command Line Parameter Name='sourcedir', Value='D:\'.[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] Command Line Parameter Name='fromsetup', Value=''.[4/4/2008 3:23:31 PM] [0] ExSetupUI was started with the following command: '-mode:install -sourcedir: D:" /FromSetup'.[4/4/2008 3:23:32 PM] [0] Setup is choosing the domain controller to use[4/4/2008 3:23:32 PM] [0] Setup is choosing a local domain controller...[4/4/2008 3:23:36 PM] [0] Setup has chosen the local domain controller XXX03.XXX.COM for initial queries At this point the installation fails with a message saying that Exchange Server setup encountered an error. That is about all the information that is given. I was able to install Exchange 2007 RTM without any issues. The above error occurs when trying to upgrade to SP1 through GUI or CLI. I then uninstalled Exchange and tried the Exchange 2007 with SP1 installation ... came up with the same issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Did you check the exchange setup logs - they should be more informative. Leif

The information listed is from the Exchange setup logs ... that is part of the problem ... the logs aren't very informative. Regardless of whether I do fresh install or an SP1 upgrade, I get the same events in the setup logs and they end at the same point.
