2007 Database Log Writes/Sec
I'm looking for a baseline for this perfmon monitor. Anyone know where to find a formula for this?

It depends on what volume of changes are occuring in your storage group(s). If there's no activity at all I think there'll be one log file "roll" every 15 minutes. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

This is a perfmon monitor, I thought MS would have some information so when I looked at the results of the monitor I could get more info. Yeah, I'm looking for a formula. Maybe experience would help. I realize there are a lot of variables, just want more info so I can set a baseline for my environment.

Your baseline should be, well, based, on what measurements you take over the course of several "normal" periods of activity. It's unlikely that the number of log writes per second is going to greatly affect performance unless the spindle itself is unable to keep up with the IOPS. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

yes, I realize the activity is based on the changes that are taking place in storage groups. Log writes are made for changes that are made. This is exactly why I want to monitor the activity. Writes to the logs can give a heads up on anything going on with the database. No need to go back and forth with this, MS does offer formulas for many perfmon monitors, I thought there might be one log writes. Just a question.
