'fix my network' wizard broke outbound domain mail
All the mail was working fine last week. The server was showing that there was a certificate that was expiring and that using 'fix my network' would sort out the issue. At the same time there were a couple other little issues that it could fix at the same time. I ran this wizard and a couple items could complete. Since this though our outbound mail to our domain outside the office has stopped working (all other mail works fine, in and outbound), keep getting this message: Sent by Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 #554 5.4.4 SMTPSEND.DNS.MxLoopback; DNS records for this domain are configured in a loop ## I guess I really have two questions. One, is there a way for me to check in the logs what this wizard updated? And two, what can I check/adjust to get the mail out again. I know that the mx records for the domain are fine as they have not been touched, but internally on the server they may have been affected. I am not an expert, don't use big words... :P ... thanks.

What do you mean by "outbound mail to our domain outside the office" ? Do you have email for your own domain being handled by an external server as well as Exchange? Exchange, by default presumes that it is responsible for all email for a domain. If that is not the case then you have to configure Exchange to share the SMTP address space. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676395(EXCHG.80).aspx Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources | In the UK? We use a web server to host the company's mail and the exchange retrieves the mail for the email accounts that we have in this office. I will check the configuration of the SMTP address space... thanks Simon, I will keep you posted. Chris

I have updated the send connector for external recipients. I added a smart host and used the mail address for the external web server. It seems to be working now, just a little delayed... Thanks Simon!
