'Previewer' hangs in Outlook 2013 while previewing attachments

I am using ms office 2013 Pro. plus, my preview is not working only if i try to see word, excel or other office documents in attachments.

Sometimes it say that 'this file cannot be previewed because of an error with the following preview...... ' and sometime is just stuck at 'starting Microsoft XYZ preview'

Addition information:

PDF and other files working fine.

I have disabled protected view. as it was also not working when it was enabled.

my outlook is connected to exchange server 2010.

Everyone else in the office is using same office 2013 pp and they have no issues.

I have tried:

--Turning off and then on Attachment handling > attachment Preview. ( also all previews are checked).

--dcomcnfg > Computer > properties > default properties, its "connect" and "identify".

-- delete all files in folder C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\8A0D3XYZ

Still not working.

Hi,

Please try the following steps and then test it again:

1. Exit Outlook and open Registry Editor.

2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PreviewHandlers, make sure you have backed up the PreviewHandlers registry key.

3. Delete the keys for Microsoft Program previewers (Microsoft Excel previewer, Microsoft Word previewer, etc).

4. Run a repair of your Office installation. Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, right-click on your Office program and select Change > Repair.

5. Restart Outlook and then try previewing an Office attachment again.

Hope this helps.

Hello Steve,

I have a similar issue where MS Office files cannot be previewed in Outlook (seems like Outlook tries to open the application and then the application crash) The steps you listed here worked then, after logout/logon things where exactly the same. Do yo have an idea on what can be causing this?

Thank you

Javier
