I have to reenter credentials for MSSQL service to start again.
This happens every Monday, so I'm fairly certain it has something to do with our maintenance plan. I have to come up to work at 3 to restart the MSSQL service, but I get a "Logon failure", so I just reenter the password and it works. It's pretty annoying though.. Hi Quincystk, My understanding to this issue is as follows, correct me if I was wrong. 1. We will have a maintainance window to restart MS SQL service on every Monday around 2:00 AM. But usually, it cannot be started up due to "Logon Failure" error. 2. You get up at 3:00 AM to manually restart the MS SQL service and re-type user password (user name is correct, right?). After that, the MS SQL service is running fine. If that is the case, I am afraid that we need to look at the SQL server's log under "<DRIVE>:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL10.MSSQLSERVER\MSSQL\Log" rather than Reporting Service log. That is because the Reporting Service depends on MS SQL server. If the SQL Server cannot be started, Reporting Service would not work properly as well. The error log that you provided is for SQL Server Reporting Service. I noticed two errors below around 2:00 AM as you mentioned, 01:56:45 ERROR: Sql error while calling GetDBVersion: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerStorageException: An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: SHUTDOWN is in progress. Login failed for user 'CORPORATE\SQLServer2008'. A severe error occurred on the current command. The results, if any, should be discarded. The two errors could be related, and the cause of the errors could be the factor that the SQL server is already in shutting down progress. Thus, only Admins can login during that period of time. If the user 'CORPORATE\SQLServer2008' does not have the proper permission, the error would occur. Currently, I think the root cause of this issue is MS SQL Server service "Logon failure", and I would suggest you ask this in MS SQL Database forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqldatabaseengine/threads Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks, Eileen.
