Hi, Returing after holliday suddenly there is some strange issues on our SQL/reporting/Msas server.
When trying to open reporting server website it cant find the site.
When trying to open Reporting Server i get the folllowing:

TITLE: Connect to Server

Cannot connect to sqlserver.
------------------------------
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Unable to connect to the server at sqlserver. The specified URL might not be valid or there might be a problem with the report server version or configuration. Specify a different URL, or contact your server administrator to verify that the report server
runs SQL Server 2008 or later. Additionally, if you are trying to connect to a SharePoint-integrated report server, verify that SharePoint is installed on the server and that the report server uses SharePoint integrated mode. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)

Some other strange things i have noticed:



Error: Database ID 17, Page (1:145425) is marked RestorePending, which may indicate disk corruption. To recover from this state, perform a restore.
IIS Does not seem to be installed and pretty sure it is a prerequisite and it was installed


It is running on a Mirror and Raid 5 but planning to restart the server in a little while to make sure everything is healthy.

Ok, i have now:
ran a repair... No Luck
Uninstalled Reports and reinstalled: No Luck -> After this i now get:


The Reporting Services instance could not be found. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)
i dont know what to try anymore...?

In what mode is your SQL 2k8 Reporting services installed (native or SharePoint)?

Based on your description, you first got the error "Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database." while opening the SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) report. Then you reinstalled the SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS),
after that you got error "The Reporting Services instance could not be found. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)". If I have misunderstood, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Actually, we don't need to reinstall the SSRS when we got the error "Report Server Windows Service (MSSQLSERVER) cannot connect to the report server database". This error usually occurs when the SQL Server database enginer is out of service, or the Report
Server catalog databases are corruptted. From the message "Error: Database ID 17, Page (1:145425) is marked RestorePending, which may indicate disk corruption. To recover from this state, perform a restore", it seems there is a disk IO error in the server.
As you said, please try to restart the server, and check if the disk is still fine.
However, now, the issue is that we encounter the error "The Reporting Services instance could not be found. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.UI.RSClient)" after reinstalling the SSRS. This error may occurs when the SSRS instance is not installed correctly.
Please use the SQL Server Configuration Manager to make sure the SSRS service is installed. If the service is not installed, please reinstall the SSRS again.
Additionally, from your description, you are using SSRS 2008 R2. SSRS 2008 R2 is Internet Information Server(IIS) independence. For more information about this changed(from SSRS 2008), please see:

Ok, So what you are saying is that there is a bit more work now...
What you are saying sounds right.
The service is there and it is running. When i try and open SSRS via Management Studio i get "a Reporting services instance could not be found"
With Configuration Manager i can see Reporting services under "SQL Server Serivces" and it is running...

Ok, i got somewhere now.
Seems like reporting services does not uninstall properly.
The steps i followed:


Uninstall SSRS via add remove programs Restart Server Delete key in regedit: HK_Local_Machine-> Software -> Microsoft -> Nicrosoft SQL Server -> Instance Names -> RS
Delete Dir: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER Run the Reporting Services Configuration Wizzard and configure Reporting services

Under Encryption Keys delete Encrypted Content
Re-Assign user rights to the SQLServerReportServerUser$SVPDAC006$MSRS10_50.MSSQLSERVER group under windows.
We are still trouble shooting this a bit we we think we must now republish the reports and there is also security settings under that.
