x64 smsboot not populated, PXE trying to use x64
Hello all SCCM 2007 R3, SQL, all roles on this server PXE role is on another server with WDS installed On the PXE server in the C:\RemoteInstall the SMSboot folder for x86 is populated with files however the x64 is not. When a computer PXE boots it keeps on trying to use x64 boot file. I've removed/re-added the role still x64 folder is empty. Tried to update the distribution points, still empty. Any yet the x86 is populated. I do noticed one thing tho, in the SCCM console under boot images, I do have a x86 boot image but no x64 either My question is 2 parts 1. How do you create a x64 boot.wim to import into SCCM 2. How do you populate the SMSboot in Remoteinstall x64 folder? any ideas?

Just follow http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb680372.aspx and use the x64 WinPE that's located in <ConfigMgrInstallDir>\OSD\boot\x64 and distribute it to the PXE service point then.Torsten Meringer | http://www.mssccmfaq.de

Additional note to Torsten's correct answer: The initial PXE pocess delivers a Network Boot Program (NBP). The NBP is very low-level and must match the machine architecture of the system being PXE booted -- this has nothing to do with the OS architecture that you wish to deliver. Given that nearly all systems in the past 4-5 years are actually 64-bit, it follows that the 64-bit NBP must be used for almost all systems. The PSP gets the 64-bit NBP from a 64-bit boot image (and only a 64-bit boot image).Jason | http://blog.configmgrftw.com | Twitter @JasonSandys
