wss 3.0 - Problem with permission?
Hi all, i have wss 3.0 installed and everythings worked fine for years. But now i have a problem i think related to permission. We use sharepoint mainly to share documents. We have two documents library the first one work fine but the second one have the problem. The problem is that the users can create new folder but when go inside he can't do nothing. The button "upload"and "new" are missing like when the user don't have the permission to write in, but the user have Full access on the folder (he can manage folder permission...). The curius thing is that if the administrator go inside that folder and create a new folder or upload a new document then the user can view the "upload" and "new" button and can do everythings! But if i broke the permission inheritance from parent then the user cant see the upload and new button until the administrator create another folder or document inside. This happen even with new user. Only the administrator view the upload and new button when the folder is empty. The customer say that he don't changed the configuration of the server... i have already tried to reboot the server but nothing change. I don't have any idea where can be the problem, every suggestion is appreciated sorry for the english ... thank you all bye Luca Luca

Hi, i have already tried with 2 browser, IE and firefox and from 2 different client machines. But i did not think the problem is of that kind because from the same machine and browser with the user administrator all function. If i connect with webdav there is no problem. thank you Raj, you have any other idea? Luca Luca

Luca, Think about this in a problem solving fashion. When I´m troubleshooting things like this, I never assume anything and tend to take a look at everything. Looking at your opening post: - Is it just ONE user having the problem or many? Can you isolate, or give us a more refined idea of who´exactly ios having a problem? is it the site level or the site collection administrator that can see the upload and new commands? If you have broken the permission inheritance, have you assigned permissions to this at the root level?
