ok have done this " Local Security Policy > Local Policies > Security Option > Scroll to find "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level" > selected "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" but still getting the authentication pop up. what else can I try

Have you checked your browser's security settings? Generally it's a good idea to make sure your SharePoint sites are in the 'Local Intranet' zone, this will enable the automatic login. If you don't want your SharePoint sites in that zone for some reason, you can choose to customise the level and enable the automatic login.

have tried all of above and still no good, according to other threads the local security policy should fix it but it still does not work for me.
