why sometimes client installation needs rebooting in sccm 2007
Hello, I m trying to install the client in lab environment it was successfully assigned. But, when i checked the log it gives that reboot required and installation was cancelled in ccmsetup.log. Now the problem is before this i do many times the installation of client but there is no need to reboot the machine of client then why this time it needs.

Hi, During the client installation a few other prerequisites are also installed. Those prereqs requires a reboot (but the reboot is supressed). If you have installed the client several times on the same box, I would recommend a reboot. I have seen the problem before one a few computers. It's no big deal because the client setup most likely will start again after the reboot.Kent Agerlund | http://scug.dk/members/Agerlund/default.aspx | The Danish community for System Center products

ya it is succeded but what i want to know is what are the reasons behind the requirement of rebooting only for those prerequisites, before this i never got this kind of issue. Because in my case there is the server and client which are on same lab environment.

Because they don't exist. It's not the ConfigMgr agent itself requesting the reboot, its the installation of the prerequisites that is causing the reboot. You can usually check the ccmsetup.log to see which one it is. In my experience, the only one that requires a reboot is BITS 2.5.
