hi I want to take the backup of Moss 2007 (Site collection) from production server. i want to know that which is the best approch to take back up from production server, Is it fine that i will use STSADM command or is there any best approch to take backup. Please reply me ASAP ganesh bairagi

Hi Ganesh, When you make a backup of a production server you can have different methods to do so... If you have alot of data inside that site collection it is wise to do it by SQL server backup & restore instead of STSADM. Regards

Hi Ganesh, What kind of error are you getting... because If you got an error it is not wise to restore it another environment when you use other methods. Regards

hi Andre thanks Actually whenever i am using STSADM command (stsadm.exe backup <url name> <file name> )on my server i am able to take backup but whenever i used same stsadm command on production server i am not able to take backup so is there any specific stsadm command that i have to use on production server so reply me ASAP

Hi We are taking backup of sharepoint 2007 site from production server & Backup has succeeded for https://xyz.com/sites/abc_mgmt but we are getting the following error when trying to take backup of the other sites.
