I'm creating a SC with several identical subsites. (Like a project site).

So at SC level the user can create subsites from a template.

The subsite has one lookup column to a list within itself and all subsites are self contained.

Just wondering if the site column should be located at SC or at Child web, whats the advantages in my case?

I was thinking if stored at SC level then any changes may impact all child projects and then give undesired results but on the other hand it may be beneficial.
