Pointer is nothing but default state at which your mouse pointer will be. When you choose some other control and move the mouse in the report layout area , the mouse pointer will change. Now if you dont want plot the selected control on the report and if you want to return back to normal mouse pointer with which you can click or drag and drop the exiting control , you can click on the pointer to get your mouse pointer back.
