what are most important services in windows server 2008 R2?
Dear Srinivasan.B
scom 2012 is one of the best tool which you can use to monitor the windows service, please reder to the following article:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/hh825624.aspx
Moreover, which windows services should be monitored is depend on the windows server role.
Basically scom windows OS monitoring pack is enough.
Computer Browser
DHCP Client
DNS Client
RPC Service Health
Plug and Play Service
Server
Workstation
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper
Windows Event Log
However, if you server plays additional role such as Domain servers, you should install scom AD management pack to monitor domain related service.
