I work for a small school district and are using DPM. We maintain a small contingent of ESXi hosts which is decreasing as we move to HyperV. Currently we are at 5 ESXi hosts and our target is 2 or 3. We never paid for vSphere and stuck to ESXi free and this is a bad strategy over all. Does anyone here have experience with vSphere licensing? How low can I go with vSphere licensing to get our target number of hosts under DPM? Can essentials cut it?
