upload error with form authentication when accesing the site externally
I setup Form authentication for our MOSS 2007 server farm. I created a new web app for a demo on port 45423. I changed the port 45423 site to use form authentication, and extended it on port 11708 for internal AD authentication. Internally everything works fine (both sites, both types of authentication). We created an external IP an set up port forwarding to go from the external ip on port 80 to the internal 45423. Most pages seem to work ok except when uploading to a document library. Trying to upload a file gives an error with the helpful message "Internet Explorer cannot display the page". However the file does upload and it appears in the document library. Thanks Ten

Can you investigate App logs, SharePoint logs, IIS logs, turn custom errors mode in off? "Internet Explorer cannot display the page" is a result of some exception. Oleg

Hi, Please check the error in Event View. Additionally, please let me know what were AAM records you have configured. Generally, the AD authentication as default zone, and then extended default zone to other zones with FBA is a good practice. Hope this helps Thanks! Stanfford

Thanks guys. Custom errors were off and the stack trace was on. The more I think about it the more it seems to be a routing issue. I don't think it's an authentication issue. It seems like all the javascript on the site is failing, not just the upload. Is there any server secruity setting that might hinder javascript execution from outside sources? I tried lowering the security settings on the browser to nothing, and installed java, but the issue still persists.

Fixed! ish We had to take the existing site on port 80 and put it on a differnt port. Take the internet zone port 11708 and point it at port 80. Set up the Alternative Access Mapping to 80 on the new outside IP. We might have been able to set it up to work with port forwarding on 11708 but we ran out of time.
