upgrade to sccm 2012

I have sccm 2007 installed and running standalone, no Systems Centre other products

I want to upgrade t0 sccm2012 but understand that i have to install system centre 2012 and sccm 2012, with all the other applications (forefront etc).

Is this true?

Hi Martin,

no thats not true.

System Center 2012 is now a suite. It has eight components:

  • Configuration Manager
  • Endpoint Protection (Part of Configuration Manager)
  • Operations Manager
  • Virtual Machine Manager
  • App Controller
  • Data Protection Manager
  • Service Manager
  • Orchestrator

Each of this components can be installed separatly. There is no need to install all components!

The only component which depends on an other is Endpoint Protection, because this is a part of the Configuration Manager component.

If there are any further questions, just ask.

Regards

Eric

Hi,

No you install System Center 2012 Configuration Manager R2 and it includes only Configuration Manager 2012 r2 and Endpoint protection, however you don't have to enable Endpoint Protection so it really does not matter. And if you don't install the Site System Role for Endpoint protection, no clients can get it installed.
