unable to use SSMS to connect to my SSRS 2008 R2 installation
I have SSRS 2008 R2 installed on a 64 bit Windows Server 2008 server. I have had SSRS installed and working for 4 months. The web site is working and i can access it.
Today i needed to connect to it using SSMS and it will not connect. I get an error telling me the URL might not be valid etc.... I have tried this from 5 different PC's ranging from XP, Vista and Windows 7. I have also tried to connect to it
when remoted onto the server. I tried using both localhost and the server name. I have a DEV, QA and PROD installation and cannot connect to any of them
I was able to connect in the past so I suspect some area in our company, most likely our over empowered security dept, has implemented another security enhancement that has blocked SSMS from connecting to SSRS.
I am able to connect to my SSRS 2008 installation w/o issues. That version is installed on Windows 2003 servers.
Does anyone have any idea on what other ports / necessary priveleges / services / dependancies are needed to allow management of SSRS R2?

Every environment has it's own quirks, so I'm not even going to try to guess what is going on there.
Here is a link to a page that lays out how to connect:

Hi Florida_guy,
Please try to use IP address to connect the Report Server. For example:
http://ipaddress/reportserver
If this issue still persists, please post the complete error message and the log files to us for further investigation.

We definitly have some environmental issues going on. With 2008 R2 we use to be able to just enter the server name to connect using SSMS. Even using the FQDN does not work nor does the IP address.
Now we need to use the URL to connect. i.e.
https://servername.domain.com/reportserver
Thanks for the suggestion above.
