unable to process the request error when opening Excel


We're getting "Unable to process the request. Wait a few minutes and try performing this operation again" when opening Excel file. 

Excel services are running. Anyone has any ideas? Thanks.

This problem may cause by different reasons. Please check followings.

  1. Disable the ASP.NET Impersonation at server level and SharePoint web services level.
  2. Make sure the account running Excel Services have permissions to the content DB.
  3. When error message only received when attempting to open .xlsx or .xlsm file, but no problem for .xls file, check out this blog.
  4. If problem still not resolved, we need to check out ULS log. And here is a similar thread should also help.
