unable to connect to the server that is specidfied in the url
the error in the title occurs when i try to open report builder 3.0. I have rebuilt reportserver on my sql server 2008 using report config tool. What else do I need to be doing. The url that is being used is the one i gave when report builder 3.0 was installing. I noticed in the report config tool that the url has a port 80 in it should that be not there?

Hello, Your destination SSRS is of version 2008, not 2008 R2? For 2008 you should use Report Builder 2.0, RB 3.0 is designated for SSRS 2008 R2. RB3 connects over the 2008R2 API which isn't available in 2008. I now get this error when i type the url in ie -- The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.8.40'. The expected version is 'C.0.9.45'. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase) When I did a new reportserver from the report config tool it said that an execution log file already exists and did not complete but there is a reportserver and reportservertempdb as instances in sql server.

Hi seeker55, The error "The found version is 'C.0.8.40'. The expected version is 'C.0.9.45'. " means the Report Server catalog database is in incorrect version. Each version of SQL Server Reporting Services(SSRS) has its own Report Server catalog database version. To fix this issue, we can use the Reporting Services Configuration Manager(RSCM) to rebuilt the Report Server catalog database as you mentioned. You should try to delete the reportserver and the reportservertempdb from the database engine, and then try to re-initialate the report server again. For more information, please see: Configuring a Report Server Installation (Reporting Services in Native Mode): http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159624(v=SQL.100).aspx If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask.
