You can create 2 SharePoint groups, provide full control permission to the owners group and edit permission to the members group, so that the owners group can manage permission by switching the members group permission from edit to read only and vice versa. List Group Owners - Full control List Group Members - Contribute permission Refer to the following post for more information. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3496825/how-to-grant-limited-manage-permissions-permission-in-sharepoint--Cheers

thanks but this is not a good solution for me. i am trying to find a way to do it without changing it in the premission area i think more about addinng column to the list that only can be viewed by this group of users and they can change it between "list On" and "list Off"

This need some customization using object model. You can also refer to the solution from CodePlex, get the source code and customize that based on your requirement. http://splistdisplaysetting.codeplex.com/ Also refer to the following post http://social.technet.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sharepointgeneral/thread/83f06c82-c044-4175-ad6c-82b7df958c36 --Cheers
