trouble creating empty site (in order to restore .cmp file)
Using the instructions in this article I am trying to backup and restore a site to a new collection.
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-designer-help/back-up-restore-or-move-a-sharepoint-site-HA010069939.aspx#_Toc266876707
I am having trouble creating a new site. When trying to create a new site using Designer, I am endly requested to authenticate when I click the OK to create the new site.
When trying to create a new site through the UI (/_layouts/newsbweb.aspx), the instruction say NOT to select any template. It is not possible to select a template as there is a template selected by default.
Thank you for any advice on creating an empty site. There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you're are trying to accomplish.

how exactly you create a site in designer? When I created site using File > New > Web Site > General > Empty Web Site I was able to successfully restore previously backuped file into new location without any additional authenticate requests.Blog - http://sadomovalex.blogspot.com

I tried again. I was not putting in the address correctly of where I wanted to create the site. I did not realize I had to create a name for the site at the end of the URL. I got it now. There are no mistakes; every result tells you something of value about what you're are trying to accomplish.
