testing backup restoration on sharepoint 2007 installed on a domain What is the best practices to achieve a test server for SharePoint Can i create one or more SharePoint farm in the same domain

The best practices question is a little big and I'll leave that to someone else to answer. However, you can definitely do a backup/restore within the same domain and you won't be violating any best practices doing it. --Paul Galvin, Slalom Microsoft MVP - SharePoint Blogging @ http://www.mstechblogs.com/paul Twitter @ http://www.twitter.com/pagalvin

thanks you mean to say that i can install another server farm(test) in the same domain and restore the backup from the production ? is that correct ?

Indeed you can. Make sure that any previous attempts have been deleted though as if an item with a GUID matching anything within your back-up is detected, it won't restore.Steven Andrews | SharePoint Professional | http://www.twitter.com/backpackerd00d | https://baron72.wordpress.com/
