stsadm installfeature error
I wasn't really sure which forum to post this too so if it should be moved or posted somewhere else please let me know. I created a feature (an event). I go to install the feature using stsadm -o installfeature ... it responds with a "The farm is unavailable" error. I then looked in the log to find the following lines: 12/18/2007 10:58:42.84 Process: STSADM.EXE (0x07D8) TID: 0x082C Area: ULS Logging Category: Unified Logging Service EventID: 8wsv Level: High Message: ULS Init Completed (STSADM.EXE, onetnative.dll) 12/18/2007 10:58:42.85 Process: STSADM.EXE (0x07D8) TID: 0x082C Area: Windows SharePoint Services Category: Topology EventID: 0 Level: Medium Message: Diagnostics settings: 32768 12/18/2007 10:58:43.01 Process: mssearch.exe (0x0174) TID: 0x0A50 Area: Search Server Common Category: IDXPIPlugin EventID: 0 Level: Monitorable Message: Attempt to initialize Indexer plugin returned 0x80070534 - File:\office\source\search\ytrip\search\tripoliplugin\tripmain.cxx Line:1603 12/18/2007 10:58:43.13 Process: STSADM.EXE (0x07D8) TID: 0x082C Area: Windows SharePoint Services Category: General EventID: 0 Level: Medium Message: Windows SharePoint Services log file 12/18/2007 10:58:43.13 Process: STSADM.EXE (0x07D8) TID: 0x082C Area: Windows SharePoint Services Category: General EventID: 72ju Level: Medium Message: stsadm: Running installfeature 12/18/2007 10:58:43.28 Process: STSADM.EXE (0x07D8) TID: 0x082C Area: ULS Logging Category: Unified Logging Service EventID: 8wsw Level: High Message: Now terminating ULS (STSADM.EXE, onetnative.dll) 12/18/2007 10:59:15.53 Process: mssearch.exe (0x0174) TID: 0x0D84 Area: Search Server Common Category: IDXPIPlugin EventID: 0 Level: Monitorable Message: Advise Status 20, Indexer plugin not initialized app 7825edaf-03f1-4ad7-9882-7bc222e4364d proj Search - File:\office\source\search\ytrip\search\tripoliplugin\tripmain.cxx Line:1362 12/18/2007 10:59:19.74 Process: OWSTIMER.EXE (0x06FC) TID: 0x070C Area: Windows SharePoint Services Category: Timer EventID: 5utx Level: Unexpected Message: The timer service could not initialize its configuration, please check the configuration database. As far as I can tell it was some sort of security issue but I don't know what it would be. I'm runing on a VPC with sql, sharepoint, etc all local. I use the admin windows account and I have the adming set up as sysadm on sql. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Internet searches appeared to show up nothing. Just a few references to 0x80070534 which is what pointed me to the security problem. ~Thanks, Justin

I didn't get the same event log entries, but was able to resolve the "using stsadm -o installfeature responds with a "The farm is unavailable" error" by start the command prompt with "Run as..."and usingthe same user identity we use for the SharePoint app pool.
