stsadm -o import fails with FatalError: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E14
I am trying to import a site into a publishing portal and keep getting 'FatalError: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E14' . The site was backed up from the same publishing portal successfully. The import was being done as a backup and into a diffefrent named site. Does this failure indicate a failure with the 'Sales Portal Documents' list or a different one?The 'Sales Portal Documents' list contains 2284 doccuments for a total of about 8GB. Thanks, RichardMOSS 2007 SP2[1/12/2010 1:28:40 PM]: Progress: Importing List Sales Portal Documents.[1/12/2010 1:28:40 PM]: FatalError: Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E14 at Microsoft.SharePoint.Library.SPRequest.CreateListOnImport(String bstrUrl, Guid& pguidListId, String bstrTitle, String bstrDescription, Int32 lTemplateID, String bstrFeatureId, Guid guidRootFolderId, Int64 llFlags, Int32 iVersion, Int32 iAuthor, String bstrFields, String bstrContentTypes, String bstrImageUrl, String bstrEventSinkAssembly, String bstrEventSinkClass, String bstrEventSinkData, Guid guidDocTemplateId, String bstrViews, String bstrForms, Boolean bCompressedSchema) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ListSerializer.CreateList(SPWeb parentWeb, Dictionary`2 listMetaData, Boolean usingPublicSchema) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ListSerializer.SetObjectData(Object obj, SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context, ISurrogateSelector selector) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.XmlFormatter.ParseObject(Type objectType, Boolean isChildObject) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.XmlFormatter.DeserializeObject(Type objectType, Boolean isChildObject, DeploymentObject envelope) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.XmlFormatter.Deserialize(Stream serializationStream) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ObjectSerializer.Deserialize(Stream serializationStream) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.ImportObjectManager.ProcessObject(XmlReader xmlReader) at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.SPImport.DeserializeObjects() at Microsoft.SharePoint.Deployment.SPImport.Run()

Hi,i think that "Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040E14" error due to the SQL server has run out of space for either the logs or the data file. Simply delete some un-needed files from the HDD that the SQL server is writting to and it fixes the problem. Best Regrads, Ahmed Madany

We have recently completed a Microsoft MOSSRAP and I am in the process of going over the findings and implementing the recommendations. We were severly SQL 'bottle necked' and there is a considerable amount of work to do in that area. Thanks for the reply.~~~ Richard

hello Guys, Just wanted to check , has any checked the no of custom view added in the any doc lib or list? if it is more then 100 views in any doc lib then we may get the same issue. Workaround : Remove some of the custom view from doc lib and check it . :) Neeraj Rai

Hi, i encountered this same issue and I tried enabling the publishing feature, creating a view that only displayed 10 items, and removing the incoming email configuration (as it was non-operational). It was either the 10 item view, or the incoming email but the import is running now. thankfully.
