Hello, I would like to know if there is anyway that I can extract documents or images from a backup file. I have an old site the I would like to get a few documents out of, but I'm having trouble getting it restored. Thanks, -Mike

No way how to get documents from backup. You should restore a backup on SharePoint. You can restore a backup on DEV/Test server. There is just one limitation you cannot restore a backup on new site if mirror from this site already exists on server. Oleg

The usual limitation for some kinds of backups is that you need to have identical systems at both ends. You can't restore a MOSS 2007 backup to a WSs 3.0 system for instance and, as most people don't try that one, you also can't restore a backup from a MOSS 2007 SP2 system to a MOSS SP1 system etc. 2010 Books: SPF 2010; SPS 2010; SPD 2010; InfoPath 2010; Workflow etc. 2007 Books: WSS 3.0; MOSS 2007; SPD 2007; InfoPath 2007; PerformancePoint; SSRS; Workflow Both lists also include books in French; German; Spanish with even more languages in the 2007 list.
