I think the easiest solution would be start with your external database table and then create external content type using BCS to display your sql data in SharePoint list. Allow use to do CRUD (create, read, update and delete) in SharePoint but data stays in SQL Server.
Look at the following article
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee557243(v=office.14).aspx
Hi Amit,
Thanks for the support.
I have also tied the given solution but when i click on 'External content Type' option from the ribbon its giving me following error which i have attached in image.
Please guide me how can i get options as given in the article u have mentioned.
Thanks & Regards

Can you click on any other links e.g. workflow and it works fine? In that case you can check if you have BCS service application created and started. I am not 100% sure but that might be one of the reason for this error. If that does not help check the ULS logs on the server to see the exact error and post it here.
Hi Amit,
Can u please tell whats this BCS service application.
I am new in sharepoint so could you please guide me how to create it.
Thanks & Regards

Hi,
The screenshot indicates that SharePoint Designer is crashing when trying to add new External Content Type.
Remove the SharePoint Designer and reinstall it to check the result.
Microsoft Business Connectivity Services (BCS) enables users to read and write data from external systemsthrough Web services, databases, and Microsoft .NET Framework assembliesfrom within Microsoft SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Office 2010 applications.
There are lots of blog articles showing how to configure BCS in SharePoint 2010. You can start from:

Using Business Connectivity Services in SharePoint 2010

Thanks.
