storage space allocation space used incorrect- how to recalculate?
I had an issue today where a developer was checking something for me and noticed that the storage quota area was misreporting space used ina site. (This was in a mysite- site settings> storage space allocation. The information below for the Document Libraries, documents, lists, etc was correct, but the area at the top still showed the wrong amount for space used (number for space used was much less than the actual space used).I changed the quota on the site through central admin, and the bar at the top expanded to show a higher limit, but space used was still wrong. My developer was able to go through the api and use a routine withRecalculateStorageUsed, but I want to be able to do this through central admin or through stsadm- is this possible? If not, can someone let an MS developer know because this would be useful for an admin to be able to do...

Download the latest version of my stsadm extensions (http://stsadm.blogspot.com) - there's a command called "gl-recalculateusage" - I've not documented it yet but it should do what you need.

Thanks for MVP: Gary Lapointes solution. We were aware of the issue, but currently we do not have a hotfix to resolve it. A workaround is using RecalculateStorageUsed in SharePoint OM as you know. You could ask the developer to develop a console / WinForm / WebForm solution for you by using RecalculateStorageUsed. Hope the information can be helpful. -lambertPosting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.

What's the latest on this issue? Has Microsoft released a hotfix for this yet?

Has Microsoft Fixed it yet? My client is annoyed with this issue. Everytime he sees this we had to run recalculate.Sidd
