ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error
We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports.
It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2. As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine. However, that
is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection.
Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

I create a simple report with a report parameter. This Report Parameter Properties are set as such:
datatype = text
Visible = true
Available Values = 'abc' and 'def'
Default Values = 'No default values'
When I run the report through the Visual Studio IDE, everything is fine. WHen I deploy the report to the SQL Server 2008 R2 server, however, when I run the report, it appears just fine. The drop-down is populated with populated with my
values of 'abc', and 'def'. I even select a value, and then hit ' "Run Report"...that's when I hit the browser error / java script error of : Message: Sys.ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: panelsDeleting[0]
I ran this exact same report under SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services with no such error. It is only under 2008 R2 that I am hitting this error, that I have to have 'defaults' on all my report parameters.
If I put a 'default' on my report parameter...this report runs fine. That is my issue....

Did you find a fix for this? Other than providing a default, of course.
