some of end users can't access site via load balanced url
Hi I have installed SharePoint 2007 as farm as following 2 *load balanced SharePoint web servers on windows 2008 enterprise SP2 , with (Windows NLB multicast) 1* Index SharePoint Server on windows 2008 enterprise SP2 2* clustered SQL server with fiber drive to shared storage Each server has 8 GM RAM Then I created site runing on port 80 , with NTLM and basic authtntication , with load balance URL ex. http://application, and alternate mapping default : http://application.domain.net , Intranet: http://application , internet: http://servername-1 , custom: http://servername-2 Problem: Not all end users can access the site via load balanced URL ( http://application ) while they can access site by typing the name of each server directly ( http://servername-1 or http://servername-2), via load balanced URL they have got “Internet Explorer can’t display the webpage” without promting to enter username and password ,I checked IIS log file and found that those clients’ requests reached IIS with one log entry with status code 401. Log entry: 2011-06-22 08:32:46 YY.YY.YY.YY GET / - 80 - XX.XX.XX.XX Mozilla/4.0+(compatible;+MSIE+8.0;+Windows+NT+6.0;+WOW64;+Trident/4.0;+SLCC1;+.NET+CLR+2.0.50727;+.NET+CLR+3.5.30729;+.NET+CLR+3.0.30729;+.NET4.0C;+.NET4.0E) 401 2 64 0 YY.YY.YY.YY: load balanced IP XX.XX.XX.XX: Client IP I pinged load balanced DNS name succefuly ,and there is no proxy Thanks

Hi ThunderbirdSN, Thanks for your post. As I understand, the NLB is configured successfully because some of them can access to the site via load balanced URL. So It seems a client PC problem. 1. Please try to clear the IE cache and try to access the site again. 2. Check the “Local Area Network (LAN) settings ” in IE browser. Have you configured this section? 3. Are the Client PC and SharePoint server in the same domain? Share your views.
