software updates not reporting back

I have a sccm 2012 r2 deployment on a server 2012 r2 virtual server.  All of a sudden the updates are not reporting back to the server. I checked the client to see if the update downloaded and is actually installed. They report they are required, just not they have installed.  I checked the firewall on the virtual server to verify there would be no issue.

any help would be great

Is this issue occuring on one server (=ConfigMgr client) or on multiples?

I found in the event viewer smsdpprovider error.

This has nothing to do with updates scans.
Have you aleady examined the Monitoring node if all ConfigMgr components are healthy? Have you examined any client side logs (U*.log, WUAHandler.log, ScanAgent.log, Windowsupdate.log)?

are they sending the state messages to MP ? what does the statemessage log says from any one of the client ? do you have any issues on the server side ?

Hi,

Download ConfigMgr Toolkit and use Deployment Monitoring Tool to check if the client received policies at all.

Deployment Monitoring Tool - The Deployment Monitoring Tool is a graphical user interface designed help troubleshoot Applications, Updates, and Baseline deployments on System Center 2012 Configuration Manager clients.

I think I was able to fix the issue. I ended up removing the distribution point and adding it back in. I tested deploying updates, this time they reported back just fine.

Thanks
