Ideas for the Title field: Could there be a description that can be associated to each item? Does comments need to be a multi line text? autopopulate Title field using some jquery magic; such as Customer-Service-DateTimeStamp? Actually, i don't think i understand your requirement. Edit: A second thought, i guess you may mean "does every list have to include a required column?" . My anwser is no. I created a custom list in SharePoint and changed the Title field to not required. Still, i can add list items with title field left empty. Actually, list has an auto incremental field named ID. You can display it by modify the view (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepointtechnology/HA100995061033.aspx).
