sharepoint 2016 and office 365 5k list threshold limit

I read somewhere that in sharepoint 2016 and office 365 5k list threshold limit will be removed. Is this done for sp2016?

This creates lots of issues in storing data more than 5k in lists with careful planning of views filters

The 5k list threshold still exists in Office 365 (SharePoint Online).  Since the current O365 provides the code base for SharePoint 2016 I don't think you will see it removed in 2016 either.  It may be expanded at some point in the future, but it is currently still enforced for both Office 365 and the Public SharePoint 2016 beta preview.

Thanks Paul! I wish its removed and then I can just get away with SQL tables and do everything in UI in sharepoint lists without DBA and dotnet code. There are many form tools plus workflow makes it perfect codeless... may be next ver
