sharepoint 2013 change data types from TextType to Text (String)

Hi. I have a situation where I am trying to follow a step by step guide for creating InfoPath 2013 Web Browser- Creating Cascading Dropdown Fields with no Code.

https://manojssharepointblog.wordpress.com/2012/12/23/infopath-2013-web-browser-creating-cascading-dropdown-fields-with-no-code/

I cant get it to work the data in Country to the selected Continent, it displays all Countries.

The only difference I can see if my data types are TextType where the data type in the example if Text (String)

Will this matter to the results please?

How can I change the data type please?

Thank you

Jon

Hi JonMorgan,

What is TextType?

Which template did you create for the form in the step 1? Are you using "Blank Form" or others?

In the Data type section of Drop-down List Box Properties, I see the options as the screenshot:

There is no "TextType" in here.

Please provide a screenshot about your Data type setting.

Check the rule on the Continent drop-down list, make sure you have set it correctly.

And also please test completely as the link you mentioned, compare the result.

Best Regards,

Wendy

Hi Wendy. Thanks for your help.

Here is a screen shot. Field name and Data type are greyed out.

Hi Jon,

In the step 4, we also need to add a new rule using "Query for data" on the "Continent" drop-down list, like the scrrenshot:

Also, you can test as the link(it also works for SharePoint 2013) below:
