set default site for publishing site
Hi, i have created a publishing site in sharepoint. I created another page in sharepoint . now i want that page to be the default page of that page. I tried renaming that page as default but did does not allow me to do that. i tried to delete the default page but it gives me an error . ' The item that you are trying to delete is the current welcome page and cannot be deleted. ' i tried deleting the content type but it gives me an error the content type is in use. Is there a way i can set the page i created to the default page of the site.

You can’t just remove default.aspx if it is in use. What you can do is rename your default.aspx to something else and then rename another page to default.aspx. - http://blog.naver.com/lightyea/

Hi Sangha, I had tried the approach you suggested it does not work . I changed the default page to default1.aspx and then created another page as default.aspx but the site always opens the original default page.

Go to site setting --> Welcome page --> Write Url of your new page. You can check all pages by looking at library named "Pages" - http://blog.naver.com/lightyea/
