hey i am using as400 as source and ibmda400 ole db provider . when i give full qualified name it works when i set up the job . when i give the naming convention 1 and run the package through job it fails . error: connection manager could not accquire. thanks.

Just a guess, but AS 400 and IBM Connection Manager don't use Windows Authentication. Therefore, you supplied a user name and password when you designed the SSIS package, yes? And I get you left the Package Protectin Level as the default, which is "Encrypt Sensitive With User Key". Yes? And I'll assume that the SQL Agent Service Account is NOT you. THEREFORE, the DTExec run-time cannot decrypt the username and password because the User Key is different at run time. Solution: Use Configurations. i did the same thing pass word.. protectoon level to default.. it again says ..cannot find connection manager .. one interest thing is ..it works fine with windows Scheduled Tasks .... i am assume something wrong with the sqlserver agent ..

Windows Scheduled Tasks run using your account. SQL Agent runs using a service account - unless you use a Proxy. Talk to me now on
