server 2008 r2 print server error 0x0000052e

Hello all,

We recently had a member server lose it's security certificate with our DCs and had to rejoin it to the domain.  This member server is also our only print server and is mission critical.  It is now generating errors and I am unable to connect to it via a custom MMC or via the server MMC.  It kicks back the error 0x0000052e, and from what I have researched, it's a snafu with the credentials not being stored in the local computer.

I am trying to find a resolution and my searches so far have only yielded answers for joining computer to desktops.  I have attempted to put a few of those resolutions into place:  Added admin creds to the server in credential manager, restarted the server, stopped and started the service, and also tried a command prompt trick that should have worked, but it's not taking the creds I give it (including the local admin creds).

Any and all help with this is apprec

Error 0x0000052e is Error_Logon_Failure.

The server will work again once you correct the security issue you experience.

I would remove the machine from the domain, then join.  You may want to delete the machine object after removing from the domain.

You will need the local admin password or have local users with admin access on the machine.

Thanks for the response Alan,

I am a local admin, have local admin access, and I am still having the same problem.  For some reason, it looks like administrating the print server via the print management add-in on MMCs isn't working.  I have made sure all permissions are correct, and I have verified that they are taking effect (log off, log on).  Could this be a problem with the way that srv1 is trying to authenticate my user and pw?

Any and all help is appreciated!

I assume no other MMC snapins authenticate.

Fix the security issue, then you should be able to use other MMC snapins and to add file shares and local user accounts to the machine remotely.

How would you recommend I resolve the permissions issue as I have already added my creds to the local cred manager for the server.

Hi Obujuwami,

-->I would remove the machine from the domain, then join.  You may want to delete the machine object after removing from the domain.

Would you please let us know current situation of this issue? Did you refer to Alan's first suggestion and check if help you to solve this issue.

By the way, please also refer to workaround in following article and check if can help you.
